La ferme fortifiée se trouvait sur la droite des arbres les plus proches, le long de la route. Entre ces arbres et la foret à droite de la photo, il y avait une grande tranchée en forme de V ou se trouvaient des positions pour fusils et mitrailleuses. Les allemands avaient aussi des artilleurs et des équipes de mitrailleurs le long de la route à gauche (est) et jusqu'à la foret à l’horizon.

Le 1e bataillon attaqua deux fois en partant de la ligne d’arbre sur la droite (ouest) de la photo et le 2e bataillon attaqua deux fois en partant de la forêt sur la gauche (sud et sud-est) de la photo.

The fortified farmhouse was on the right side of nearest trees on the road. There was a large V trench line of rifle and machine guns positions between it and the woods on the right of the photo. Germans also had riflemen and German crew served machine guns along this road on the left (east) side of it all the way to the woods in the distance.

The 1st Battalion attacked twice from the tree line on the right (west) of the photo and the 3rd Battalion attacked twice from the woods on left (south and southwest) of the photo.

Ce mur est le seul qui subsiste de la ferme fortifiée. La ferme était toujours la après la bataille mais a été détruite dans les années suivantes.

La bâtisse était en mauvais état et n’avait pas d’électricité. Elle a été détruite en 2008.

This is the only wall left from the fortified farmhouse. The farmhouse was still standing after the attack but it collapsed in the following years.

Une grange fut construite le long du reste du mur de la ferme, et un enclos fut ajouté par la suite.

Des vieilles voitures et une caravane étaient garés ici depuis des années. Trois parcelles de terrain, dans la partie sud de la vieille ferme et du terrain ou elle se trouvait, forment le terrain utilisé pour construire le mémorial.

Trois différents propriétaires vendirent le terrain à la fondation du mémorial de la ferme de la Croix Rouge. La fondation tient à exprimer sa gratitude à Mr. Abdallah, Mr. Zaccharias et Mr. Guay pour leur avoir vendu le terrain qui lui a permis d’ériger ce mémorial à la 42e division américaine, la division arc-en-ciel.

The building had not electricity and was in poor shape. It was destroyed in early 2008.

The ruins of the fortified farm were used to build a barn and a pen was added later.

Old cars and a mobile home were parked there for years. Three parcels of land, south of the old fortified farmhouse and the land where it stood, made up the land used for the Memorial.

Three owners sold the three parcels of land bought by the Croix Rouge Farm Memorial Foundation. The Croix Rouge Memorial Foundation expresses its gratitude to Mr. Abdallah, Mr. Zaccharias and Mr. Guay for selling this land to build on it a memorial to the U.S. 42nd Rainbow division.

Aujourd’hui, toutes les terres autour de la vielle ferme sont parfaitement entretenues par les propriétaires de la ferme de la Croix Blanche, la famille Guay. Mais, betterave, colza et autres cultures sont plantés pendant l’année sur ce terrain dont la topographie n’a pas changé depuis que le régiment d’Alabama lança son attaque contre la ferme occupée par les forces allemandes.

La ferme fut assaillie par le 3e bataillon du 167e régiment d’Alabama qui venait des bois sur la gauche de la photo. Le 1e bataillon lança son attaque des bois sur la droite de la photo.

Today, all the land around the old farmhouse perimeter is beautifully maintained by the owners of the Croix Blanche Farm, the Guay family. Corn, sugar beet, rapeseed and other crops are planted year around on this land whose topography hasn't changed since the Alabama 167th infantry regiment launched its attack on the German-held farmhouse.

The farmhouse was assaulted by the Alabama 167th 3rd Battalion from the distant woods on the left of the photo and by the 1st Battalion from the woods on the right of the photo.
